Thomas Cup

The 2010 Thomas Cup competition has just ended with China winning it for the 4th consecutive time. Our nation had such a high a hope to recapture the cup after a 12 years' absent. Yet, as usual, we weren't anywhere near to walking the talk. Our nations campaign collapsed against Japan when we lost the 2-0 lead to succumb 3-2. After that, the road to be taken was as hard as it can be as China was in the same half of the draw. Against China, our players tried. Nevertheless, the result showed that we are lightyears away from beating China. Our players were like little boys playing against their big brother, getting thrashed with even under 10 scores. Its a pity really. The players were better than that, they could and should have done better. In the end, the long wait continues...

The China vs Mas match was one highly anticipated match as whoever wins it has high hopes of winning the cup itself. So, me, CT and YY went to a nearby mamak just to watch the match, hoping our players can brush away the early hiccups and send the chinese players home. We thought the match was starting at 6pm, so we ended up earlier at the mamak stall only to be told that the match was at 7pm. As we arrived earlier(not too early actually, it was already 630pm), we were able to get a place as a lot of the others were 'camping' on the seats waiting for the match as well.

Fullhouse- The mamak stall is completely filled with people anticipating to see a Malaysian victory... Its so full that every seat is occupied...
Before the match- Before the match, CT and YY seems to be in good spirit...lol
After the match- Gone is the energy and the smile...its disappointment written all over the face.
Roti tisu- Roti tisu which has been torn apart...lol. We ate 2 of it over the match...
Oh yeah! vs Oh man!- Lin Dan has proven to be Chong Wei's achilles heels...better luck next time. The record of Lin Dan vs Chong Wei is thus 16 wins and 6 losts for Lin Dan...Damn, isn't he just too good?sigh

Neway is in town!

In Penang, almost all teenagers or those who loves karaoke will know the name 'Red-Box'. It was the most popular place to go for karaoke among youngsters like ourselves. Nevertheless, Neway has come to town! Red-Box has excellent rates and nice food, but the downside is its almost at the other end of the island. So, with Neway opening in Queensbay mall, me and SC decided to 'sacrifice' ourselves for the benefit of our friends and give it a try... :p
Main Entrance- This is the main entrance of the Neway karaoke center. It's located just opposite Golden Screen Cinema. There is no way you will miss it once you entered level 3. It used to be a multimedia center for Queensbay. Forgotten what was the name already. Well, I bought my HTC Touch Pro here, and now I have no idea where to send my phone if I need to have it serviced...haha

Receptions Counter- Even before entering Neway, you will be able to spot the counter as well as the crowd waiting in front of the center(if there's any...we went there on a weekday, so as expected, no need to wait for rooms). As far as I'm concerned, the receptionist are quite polite and attend to you as soon as you are in their sight. There is no need for a member card for reservation compared to Red-Box which needs you to have a member card which is applied for around RM50. You can make a call to make reservations for rooms too.
Rates- This was the rates written just outside of Neway. On paper, it looks to be cheaper than Red-Box. All those price are for 3 hours' time within the center. And BEWARE, beside all those price are not '.00'. Instead, those are '++'. Meaning its all written as RM28++ or RM18++ instead of RM28.00 or RM18.00.

Corridors- Basically, these is the corridors of Neway leading to each of the rooms. Well, the corridors are...erm...just corridors...lol. Its design are more or less the same as Red-Box while the only obvious difference is the colour. Red for Red-box(duh!) and purple for Neway. The fella in the green shirt over there is SC...XD

Ticket- So once you tell the receptionist how many person you have, the receptionist will give you a ticket that looks something like this. For our case, since we went there at 3pm, we each were accounted for RM16++ for 3 hours which is till 6pm. RM16 isn't too bad a deal, with the inclusion of a meal(one dish, one drink), but the problem lies in the tit-bits. One bowl of tit-bits is RM11. Well, some would say, 'just say NO to the tit-bits!'. But here's the bad news-ITS COMPULSORY! Furthermore, if you look carefully, Neway also charge government tax and service tax amounting to 15% in total too. Bugger... >.< Booze collection- On our way to the room, we walk by a magnificent collection of liquor which was in display, notifying all the customers that they do serve alcohol. The liquor are all placed nicely into the display box and looks extremely tempting...

Buffet trays- Just opposite the liquor display is the room where all the food for the buffet is displayed. As we were there during the afternoon, no food was available there. But when we were leaving, we saw some of the food they prepared. The food looks to be quite nice to be honest. Too bad we forgotten to take some photos on it.

Menu 1- This is the menu where we pick out the free dish we want. Each person is subject to one of these only. If you do not want to eat, you can change your dish into a drink, which I think is absolutely not worth it...haha

Menu 2- This is the drink menu. On the most right page is the drinks that is given for free in the package. Other than that, there are hard liquor, beers, and also cocktails. The hard liquor's price is no joke, even the cheapest one has 3 digits to it... Beers have different prices during normal and peak hours. Its basically double the price during peak hours.

Menu 3
Menu 4
Menu 5
Menu 6
Drinks- These 2 are the drinks that me and SC ordered. The first one being Honey Lemon and the second one Apple Aloe. Both tasted nice and is quite refreshing, especially after singing to much...haha

Foods and Tit-bits- The first one is the Japanese Rainbow Roll, which I did not ordered... Somehow, the waiter mistaken my order and brought me this instead. I felt something was wrong but only until when I was writing this post did I know the waiter made a mistake....sigh. Whoever is thinking of ordering this as their dish, I would say DON'T!!! This dish is no where near nice. At least a mile's distance. lol. As for the second one, its the famous RM11 tit-bits. It's basically just crackers, and I think I can get it for less than RM2. Its obvious where their main revenue comes from. The last picture is the Tempura Platter. This, my friends, is one dish worthy to be ordered. Apart from the fish tempura, there is a piece of ebi tempura as well as fries. This has got to be considered when you want to place an order...XD

Internal Designs- These are the pictures taken from inside the karaoke rooms. Nothing much to say about it as its more or less the same compared to other karaoke centers.
Lock- One special feature here is that if you ordered for a VIP room, the room is kept safe from others with the help of the coded lock. Well, I think we most probably won't need it much, unless you are planning something really really weird or shouldn't be viewed publicly....XD

The receipt- Last but not least, the receipt we got after paying the bill. It shows clearly that we each had to pay RM16 per head and also the add on for the RM11 tit-bits as well as the 15% tax. So, it all amounted to a total of RM49.50. Well, it was a fun experience, so I think it was worth it. Anyway, gonna come again soon with plans coming up... So maybe if any of you are planning to go there, we might bump into each other there...haha. Till then, ciao!

Oh yeah, here's the contact for those of you who are interested to go^^ Have fun!

Laughing my head off...XD

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn.. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chopcan give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. So have a cup now and then!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ..... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the
middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans ! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

AND......

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot
of red wine
and suffer fewer
heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Barcelona bites the dust!

It was a well anticipated champions league semi-finals in the Nou camp. Inter had had the upper hand from a well fought victory at the San Siro and came with a 3-1 advantage. Barcelona are known as the worlds best football club and are planning to make it 2 champions league finals in a row. They were itching to qualify for the finals to rub salt into Real Madrid's wound as the final was to be held in the Bernabeu stadium. Inter's coach Jose Mourinho has had a difficult season in Italy due to the poor relations with the media. However, he is indeed the Special One. Much will be debated regarding his tactics of total defense for this much. Inter had been defending since the very beginning of the game and had done it extremely effectively, limiting Messi and co any sniff of the goal. It was made even more difficult when Motta was sent of in the 28th minute under a controversial circumstances. Being hit on the neck,Sergio Busquets held his face when he fell and cause the referee to pull out the red card. Looking at the statistics, Barcelona had 84% of possesion, but was unable to score the 2 goals they needed and it was against 10 men! You can imagine how hard the Inter players fought in the game. People might say that Mourinho's Inter were playing anti-football game, but hey, every game has their own tactics, and defending is definitely one of them. Barcelona was not a gracious loser. In fact, the sprinklers on the pitch was opened when the Inter players celebrated on the pitch. What ashame! However, all in all, a great night for Inter, and I'm sure Madrid fans would be celebrating as well. Barcelona bites the dust!
The Special One- Jose Mourinho has done a great job bringing Inter into the finals...Now can he bring them the trophy that his former employer wanted so so much?
Gracious loser? Nah- Victor Valdes confronting the Inter manager on the pitch when he tried to celebrate on the pitch

Lionel Messi- One of the greatest football phenomena. However, even Messiah wasn't able to save Barcelona from elimination.
Oh man! What a miss!- Bojan reacts after missing a free header that would've won them the tie

Super mario!

Super Mario Bros is one of the oldest game and I think should have been the most popular games when we were young. Its really kinda fun playing the game even now.
The player takes on the role of the main protagonist of the series, Mario and the objective is to race through the mushroom kingdom, survive the main antagonist bowser's forces and save Princess Toadstool(lolz...wat a funny name, but then again, they normally are in games...XD).The playing world has coins scattered around it for Mario to collect, and special "?" bricks, which when hit from below by Mario, may contain more coins or a special item. Other "secret" (often invisible) bricks may contain more coins or rare items.

Well, I have heard KY mentioning about some guy playing all the theme songs in the game and came through it just now. Its really amazing...just thought of sharing it around...hehe

Aint the guys just fantastic? *clap clap clap*
